SUMMER CROP SCENARIO PLANNING - 2020/21 PRODUCTION SEASON

BFAP conducts summer grain scenario planning for Grain SA on an annual basis. The purpose of scenario planning is to empower producers with more information to facilitate better decision making. The 2020 report specifically focused on the following aspects:

  • Macroeconomic outlook
  • International summer grain market overview
  • Outlook for South African agriculture
  • Outlook for the South African grain and oilseed markets
  • Impact of exchange rate on local commodity and input prices
  • Farm level profitability
  • Input cost overview
  • Impact of lower white maize grades on profitability

SCLEROTINIA - IS THEIR A SILVER BULLET?

 

The eminent Dr Rikus Kloppers, Integrated Field Sciences Leader – Africa and Middle East at Corteva Agriscience™, discuss whether there is a “silver bullet” in controlling Sclerotinia in crops like soybeans and sunflower during the recent NAMPO Virtual show. Dr Klopper’s presentation was in Afrikaans with slides in English.

NAMPO CHRISTMAS & GIFT MARKET

The second annual NAMPO Park Christmas and Gift market is taking place on NAMPO from 26-28 November 2020. Just in time for the festive season, there will be more than 70 exhibitors displaying arts & crafts and Christmas gifts for every taste. In addition there will be plants and products for the home and garden, plenty of farm stall delicacies and live demonstration with plenty food kiosks available to fill the tummies. A play park provide hours of entertainment for the kids so the ladies can be friends along and spend the day with us at NAMPO Park. Hope to see you there!

Gates open Thursday and Friday from 9am to 7pm and Saturday from 8am to 3pm. Admission fees for adults are R20, for school-going children are R10 and pre-school children are free.
