LISTING OF WM2 AND YM2 CONTRACTS ON SAFEX

During the current harvesting season, we noted unprecedented high volumes of WM2 being delivered. During the past two weeks (weeks 15 & 16 of the marketing season respectively), 25% and 23% of the deliveries was WM2’s. From the total crop currently delivered, 12% consist of WM2’s. Judging by the past weeks’ trend, this percentage of WM2’s can increase even further.

The average of WM1’s delivered over the past 10 years, was 94% of the total crop, which is a definite indication of this season’s effect on grading.

The JSE has subsequently decided to list a WM2 and YM2 contract from 20 August 2020 to assist with proper price discovery of these grades.
