Grain SA is currently working with SARS, grain producers, and various private technology service providers on a pilot project to automate the diesel logbook system. The aim of this project is to improve current processes by developing a more efficient, digital system.
The working group driving this initiative consists of volunteers and is not a closed group. This collaboration represents an important step towards administrative relief and greater efficiency for producers eligible for the diesel rebate.
A pilot project involving several producers is planned for the period between October and December 2025. The working group aims to present a functional and tested system to SARS by March 2026 for possible implementation.
