WHAT ARE WE DOING AND WHY? (continued)
WAT DOEN ONS EN WAAROM? (vervolg)
PULA IMVULA
The
Pula Imvula
is an on-going project that is very well received by readers at all levels. We continue to
source relevant articles from various writers and include them at the time of year when the information is
useful to the farmers. Currently more than 22 000 copies are distributed monthly.
During this year we investigated the possibility of expanding the English version of the
Pula Imvula
with articles from the
SA Graan/Grain
magazine, as well as other relevant articles, which are more
scientific. We received permission from the Maize Trust before embarking on this project and we are
pleased to say that it was launched during May at the NAMPO Harvest Day and we have managed to
secure funding until September 2014. This expanded English

government employees in the DARD, as well as the farmers who are able to manage the English. We
appreciate the sponsorship offered by Jupidex, Monsanto, Pannar and Profert.
SCHOOLS PROGRAMME
The Schools Programme has continued to grow and prosper over the four years since we started this
format with the support from the AgriSETA, the Winter Cereal Trust and the Maize Trust. The responses
of learners and teachers alike are always positive and we wish that we could do even more to excite the
children about agriculture – food, fibre and life!
We would like to express our most sincere thanks to the AgriSETA, the Maize Trust and the Winter
Cereal Trust for making this lovely programme possible. We believe that we are touching lives in some
small way and giving a few people hope for their future.
It is essential that we encourage children to be aware of the value of agriculture as a source of food
and fibre, a major role-player in the economy, as an employer and as a career choice. More than half
PULA IMVULA
Pula Imvula
wetenskaplik is.
