SA GRAAN/GRAIN
SA Graan/Grain is the official magazine of Grain SA and the mouthpiece of the organisation. It is a
semi-commercial publication that contains technical and commodity information regarding the various
facets of the grain industry. Through this publication the organisation communicates with its members,
other grain producers and important role-players in the industry.
Readers research that has been conducted during the past year, has confirmed that the SA Graan/Grain
is spot on with its editorial content. The magazine focuses on commercial grain producers and the purpose
of the magazine is to contribute to the vision of Grain SA, which is to ensure that the grain producer’s
farming activities are profitable and sustainable and contribute to the food security of the country.
The magazine is mainly Afrikaans, but there is a balanced mixture of Afrikaans and English articles.
Most of the articles in the magazine are specialist and research articles and offer grain and oil seeds
producers a window into industry related aspects, like grain marketing, inputs/production issues,
finances, agricultural research and other topical matters that have an impact on commercial grain
production.
TECHNOLOGY
Exciting news for SA Graan/Grain readers is that the magazine will be available as an electronic flipbook
(an eBook) from October 2013. The electronic flipbook has exactly the same content as the printed format.
Readers can now get all the latest agricultural research, articles and news on what is happening in the
world of grain on their smart phone, tablet, laptop and personal computer – free of charge.

Despite difficult and unstable market conditions, the SA Graan/Grain succeeded in maintaining its

SA Graan/Grain is die amptelike tydskrif van Graan SA en mondstuk van die organisasie. Dit is ‘n semi-
kommersiële blad wat tegniese en kommoditeitsinligting oor die onderskeie fasette van die graanbedryf
bevat. Die organisasie kommunikeer hierdeur met sy lede, ander graanprodusente en belangrike
rolspelers in die bedryf.
Lesersnavorsing wat die afgelope jaar gedoen is, het bevestig dat SA Graan/Grain in die kol is met sy
redaksionele inhoud. Die fokus van die tydskrif is op kommersiële graanprodusente en die doel van die
tydskrif is om by te dra tot die visie van Graan SA om te verseker dat die graanprodusent se boerdery
winsgewend en volhoubaar is en bydra tot voedselsekerheid in die land.
Die tydskrif is hoofsaaklik in Afrikaans, maar daar is ‘n gebalanseerde mengsel van Afrikaanse en
Engelse artikels. Die meeste artikels in die tydskrif is vakkundige en navorsingsartikels en bied aan
graan- en oliesadeprodusente ‘n venster op bedryfsverwante aspekte, soos graanbemarking, insette/
produksie-aangeleenthede, finansies, landbounavorsing en ander aktuele onderwerpe wat ‘n impak op
kommersiële graanproduksie het.

Opwindende nuus vir SA Graan/Grain lesers is dat die tydskrif vanaf Oktober 2013 as ‘n elektroniese
blaaiboek (‘n eBoek) beskikbaar is. Die elektroniese blaaiboek het presies dieselfde inhoud as die
gedrukte formaat. Lesers kan dus nou al die nuutste landbounavorsing, artikels en nuus oor wat in die
graanwêreld aangaan op hulle slimfoon, tablet, skootrekenaar en tuisrekenaar kry – kosteloos.
