GRAIN PRODUCER OF THE YEAR CATEGORY
The fourteenth award in this category was, according to the panel of judges, characterised by four
outstanding nominations, which resulted in probably the most difficult decision in years. Therefore it was
decided to nominate four finalists, instead of the usual three.
The finalists were:
CD du Toit (Riversdal) – The success of this undertaking, managed by CD and his brother, Erhard, was
based on their extraordinary knowledge of soil, as well as the application of this knowledge to obtain the
optimum use from their soil as a resource.
Pauciflora Boerdery – Dirk and Herman van Rensburg (Arlington): Resource conservation and an
informed and positive labour corps are some of the major cornerstones of this successful business,
which is managed by Dirk and his son, Herman.
Thiele Estates – Kurt Thiele (Paulpietersburg): Crop production, intensive pig and cattle production, as
well as game farming and forestry are managed in such a way by Kurt, his brother Walter and three
sons that the resources available to them are utilised optimally in a sustainable system.
Rhys Evans Group – Anthony Evans (Viljoenskroon): This group continuously strives to optimise crop
production by maintaining and developing natural resources through conservation farming, crop rotation
and the integration of multiple farming branches.
Grain Producer of the Year
The Rhys Evans Group was selected as Grain Producer of the Year. The Rhys Evans Group was built
over a period of many years into an effective unit in which the primary production of grain and oilseeds is
taken virtually to the end of the value chain.
GRAANPRODUSENT VAN DIE JAAR-KATEGORIE
Die veertiende toekenning in hierdie kategorie was volgens die paneel van beoordelaars gekenmerk
deur vier uitstaande nominasies wat sekerlik die moeilikste besluit in jare tot gevolg gehad het. Daarom
is daar besluit om vier finaliste aan te wys, terwyl daar in die verlede slegs drie aangewys is.
Die finaliste was:
CD du Toit (Riversdal) – Die sukses van hierdie onderneming, wat deur CD en sy broer Erhard bestuur
word, is gebou op hul buitengewone kennis van grond sowel as die toepassing van hierdie kennis om
optimale benutting uit hul grond as hulpbron te verkry.
Pauciflora Boerdery – Dirk en Herman van Rensburg (Arlington): Hulpbronbewaring en ‘n ingeligte en
positiewe arbeiderskorps is van die belangrikste hoekstene van hierdie suksesvolle boerdery, wat deur
Dirk en sy seun, Herman, bestuur word.
Thiele Estates – Kurt Thiele (Paulpietersburg): Gewasproduksie, intensiewe vark- en beesproduksie
asook wildboerdery en bosbou word op so ‘n wyse deur Kurt, sy broer Walter en drie seuns bestuur, dat
die hulpbronne wat tot hul beskikking is, optimaal in ‘n volhoubare stelsel benut word.
Rhys Evans Groep – Anthony Evans (Viljoenskroon): Dié groep streef voortdurend daarna
om gewasproduksie te optimaliseer met die behoud en opbou van natuurlike hulpbronne deur
bewaringsboerdery, wisselbou en die integrasie van veelvuldige boerderyvertakkings.
Graanprodusent van die Jaar
Die Rhys Evans Groep is as Graanprodusent van die Jaar aangewys. Die Rhys Evans Groep is oor ‘n
tydperk van baie jare opgebou tot ‘n doeltreffende eenheid waarin die primêre produksie van graan en
oliesade tot feitlik aan die eindpunt van die waardeketting geneem word. Hierdie prestasie is behaal
deur die handhawing van uitstekende arbeidsverhoudinge en die voortgesette ontwikkeling van alle
menslike hulpbronne. Anthony Evans en Arno Cronjé (algemene bestuurder van die Rhys Evans Groep)
hou die winsgewendheid van elke winssentrum met ‘n arendsoog dop.
