The prices for agricultural machinery have increased on average by 14,4% from October 2012 to
October 2013. It is in general expected that year-on-year price changes are likely to move slowly
upwards in the short term, but it all depends on the course of the value of the rand.
Prices
In August 2013, the prices for agricultural machinery were higher than twelve months ago. The prices for
agricultural machinery have increased on average by 13,1% from September 2012 to September 2013
and 14,4% from October 2012 to October 2013. The most recent devaluation in the value of the rand
is now starting to have a significant adverse effect on year-on-year price changes. The year-on-year
price increase change trend is upwards for tractors, hay and forage equipment and for implements in
August. There is no change in the increasing trend of combine harvester prices (
Table 9
). It is expected
that year-on-year price increases are likely to move slowly upwards in the short term, depending on the
course of the value of the rand.

Die prys van landboumasjinerie het vanaf Oktober 2012 tot Oktober 2013 gemiddeld met 14,4% gestyg.
Daar word oor die algemeen verwag dat jaar-tot-jaar-prysveranderings waarskynlik in die kort termyn
stadig sal verhoog, maar dit hang alles af van die rigting wat die waarde van die rand volg.
Pryse
In Augustus 2013 was die pryse van landboumasjinerietoerusting hoër as twaalf maande gelede. Die pryse
vir landboumasjinerie het gemiddeld met 13,1% gestyg vanaf September 2012 tot September 2013 en met
14,4% van Oktober 2012 tot Oktober 2013. Die jongste waardevermindering van die rand begin nou ‘n
beduidende nadelige effek op jaar-tot-jaar-prysveranderinge hê. Die jaar-tot-jaar-prysverhogingtendens in
Augustus is opwaarts vir trekkers, hooi- en voertoerusting en vir implemente. Daar is geen verandering in die
stygende tendens van stroperpryse nie (
Tabel 9
). Daar word verwag dat jaar-tot-jaar-prysveranderings waar-
skynlik in die kort termyn stadig sal verhoog, afhangend van die rigting wat die waarde van die rand volg.
