Overview
Grain SA's management
committee and CEO
Graan sa se dagbestuur
en Uitvoerende
hoofbestuurder
Oorsig
The season has arrived for Grain SA’s transformation seedling to emerge and bear fruit. This plant is
deeply rooted in the continued development and nurturing of partnerships with the government and
all role-players in the entire food production value chain.
The purpose of Grain SA’s strategic focus areas is not only to increase the profitability of producers
and to establish sustainable food security in general; it is also aimed at establishing transformation
within the parameters of our constitutional rights.
Thus far the members of the agricultural community have been comfortably sharing authentic success
stories of transformation and integration among themselves. However, the time has come for the greater
community to recognise and appreciate this image of agriculture that, like the seedling, it has broken
through the surface and is now growing and bearing fruit.
Grain SA’s unity with its producer members at grassroots level has proven to be invaluable for this
process. It therefore remains critical that the Organisation, through regional, information, farmer unions
and branch meetings, maintains a visible and active presence in the lives of all South Africans.
These meetings allow Grain SA to inform producer members of the latest developments in the grain
industry, production prospects and well-researched economic facts. It also affords producer members
the opportunity to share their concerns with the Organisation.
In a further effort to enable producers to make well-informed decisions about their farming activities,
Grain SA also supplies them with market reports on a daily basis. All these actions allow Grain SA to
truly live within the homes of our producers.
The solidarity and unity that have been established within agriculture are the antitheses of the complete
lack of commitment and understanding currently being experienced in terms of political leadership, and
this is but one of the many challenges facing the agricultural industry today.
