Jaarverslag 2018
annual report 2018
Effectively integrated communication efforts to support the organisa-
tion’s interactions with the various agricultural stakeholder groups
and improve the quality of exchanges.
Endeavoured to further share the knowledge database contained
within the pages of the
SA Graan/Grain
magazine with target
audiences, by publicising and promoting top articles monthly on
social platforms. This has substantially increased the opportunity
for discussion and engagements around important topics in the
agricultural environment.
Interacted with stakeholders and media partners through available
networking opportunities, symposiums, workshops and media tours.
Extended the service offering of the Grain SA exhibition area and
members’ hall at the NAMPO Harvest Day focusing on the support
offered to each producer. The NAMPO merchandise was moved to
the NAMPO Hall and proved extremely successful in its own right.
Participated in and supported the Nation in Conversation initiative,
a successful actuality agri-discussion broadcast during NAMPO
Harvest Day. The 2018 themes covered policy matters, political
perspectives, United Nations: Decade of family farming, inspirational
women, economy of scale, agriculture 2035 and how the youth
sees agriculture.
Supported member marketing efforts at exhibitions, workshops
and farmers days with aligned audiences and focus to that of the
organisation which included the Boertjiefees, Swartland Show,
CA farmers days, future focus, membership golf days and various
smaller agricultural initiatives.
Presented outstanding functions to showcase the successes of
South African grain producers, big and small.
Values that drive our public relations efforts
Embracing
transparency
, recognising that open and honest
communication is the most effective.
Valuing
authenticity
, recognising that communication efforts must
be a reflection of organisational behaviour in order to be credible.
Recognising that good public relations will always be about
engagement, recognising that mutual understanding requires
dialogue
, and that effective communication requires listening at
least as much as it involves talking.
Striving for
humility
, recognising that a hint of arrogance in today’s
digital and social media will be met with hostility.
Value
engagement
, inviting active participation by members
and other stakeholders, with communication designed to engage
and motivate.
Our communication
Aspire to continuously shape relations with policy makers,
government departments and other agricultural partners to further
improve awareness, understanding and value of the South African
grain producers and their vital role in ensuring food security. The
organisation’s member communication is facilitated through various
channels, which include a bi-weekly newsletter, ad-hoc electronic
communication, news flashes and utilising digital media channels.
Grain SA newsletter and
News Flash
The
Perspective
is an electronic newsletter, distributed bi-weekly
to members and a selected group of interested stakeholders. It aims
to share information, events and important dates and further provide
a platform to communicate industry news timeously. The

Lede se bemarkingspogings is by uitstallings, werkswinkels en
deursigtigheid
, met die besef dat oop en eerlike
kommunikasie die doeltreffendste is.
Waardering van
egtheid
dialoog
vereis, en dat doeltreffende
kommunikasie luister ten minste soveel soos praat behels.
Strewe na
nederigheid
kanale insluit.
Graan SA-nuusbrief en
Nuusflits
Die
Perspektief
