Die plaaslike groothandelprys van diesel in Gauteng het in die oorsig-
tydperk met 29% vanaf R12,12 per liter in Oktober 2017 tot R15,64 per liter
in Oktober 2018 gestyg.

Die faktore wat die plaaslike brandstofprysbewegings beïnvloed, is
Brent-ruoliepryse en die R/$-wisselkoers, asook plaaslike brandstof-
heffings.

Die impak van ’n styging in Brent-ruolie se prys en ’n swakker rand het tot
’n beduidende styging in die plaaslike groothandelprys van diesel gelei.

Diesel industry
During the reporting period, the domestic wholesale price of diesel
in Gauteng increased by 29%, from R12,12 per litre in October 2017 to
R15,64 per litre in October 2018.
PRICES
The factors that influence the local fuel price movements are Brent
crude oil prices and the R/$ exchange rate, as well as local fuel levies.

below shows the international Brent crude oil prices and the
Gauteng wholesale prices for diesel over time. Over a period of a
year, Brent crude oil prices increased by 43% from US$55,33 per barrel
in September 2017 to US$79,13 per barrel in September 2018. Over the
same period, the rand weakened against the dollar from R13,16 to R14,76.
The impact of an increase in Brent crude oil prices and a weaker rand led
to the significant increase in domestic wholesale prices of diesel.
