Overview
Grain SA is grateful that the 2018 financial year has delivered
outstanding results, in spite of challenging economic conditions.
A combination of additional income that was not budgeted for and
savings – where possible – on expenses incurred contributed to the
positive result. Sound relationships and ongoing support from our
partners contribute to valuable projects and services in those divisions
that handle our core business. Grain SA is a moderate investor, but our
investments did not perform as anticipated.
The financial team was under great pressure during the period
under review, with the transition from one financial system to another.
However, team members each took responsibility for their duties and
thus contributed to the successful transition to the new system – for
which we are grateful.
Results
Grain SA ended the financial year under review with a surplus,
compared to the loss for which we budgeted in the 2018 financial year.
This was due to additional income that was realised, as well as savings
on expenditure. Our assets ended in line with the previous year.
The Audit Report issued by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) was
unqualified. Grain SA is proud to present the financial statements as
contained from page 112 to 140.
Our members can trust us to adhere to procedures, measures and
good corporate governance to ensure sound financial management.
Oorsig
Graan SA is dankbaar dat die 2018 finansiële jaar, ten spyte
van uitdagende ekonomiese toestande, uitstekende resultate
gerealiseer het. ’n Kombinasie van ekstra inkomste waarvoor nie be-
groot is nie en besparings – waar moontlik – op uitgawes aangegaan,
het bygedra tot die positiewe resultaat. Goeie verhoudings en volge-
houe ondersteuning deur ons vennote dra by tot waardevolle projekte
en dienste in dié afdelings wat ons kernbesigheid hanteer. Graan SA is
’n gematigde belegger, maar ons beleggings het nie presteer soos wat
ons beoog het nie.
Die finansiële span het, met die oorskakeling van een finansiële stelsel
na ’n nuwe finansiële stelsel, onder geweldige druk verkeer tydens die
tydperk onder oorsig. Spanlede het egter elkeen verantwoordelikheid
geneem vir hul take en sodoende bygedra tot die suksesvolle oorskake
ling na die nuwe stelsel – waarvoor ons nederig dankbaar is.
Resultate
Graan SA eindig die finansiële jaar onder oorsig met ’n surplus
– gemeet teen die verlies waarvoor ons vir die 2018-finansiële jaar
begroot het. Dit kan toegeskryf word aan addisionele inkomste wat
gerealiseer het, sowel as besparings op uitgawes. Ons bates het in
lyn met die vorige jaar geëindig.
Die Ouditverslag, uitgereik deur PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), is
ongekwalifiseerd. Graan SA hou graag die finansiële state soos vervat
in bladsye 112 tot 140 voor.
Ons lede kan gerus wees dat prosedures en maatreëls nagekom
word om sodoende ons finansies met goeie korporatiewe bestuur
kerngesond te hou.
