GSA Annual Report 2025

74 In addition to the work Grain SA does to look after the interests of grain producers, there are also exclusive benefits for which Grain SA members qualify. These benefits include the following: Tax-free savings plan with Corporate Guarantee Analysis of fertiliser quality Support with the diesel rebate Free tickets with allocated parking for NAMPO, NAMPO ALFA and NAMPO Cape Special Grain SA member prices at Nexus Transmission Components Collection of levy Grain SA is a voluntary organisation and the levy is therefore collected via different methods. The two most common ways for collecting the levy are through collection agents and through direct payments to Grain SA. THROUGH THE COLLECTION AGENTS Collection agents are mainly companies that are involved in the trading, handling, storage and processing of grain. Grain SA concludes contracts with these companies, who then collect the levy from producers and pay it over to Grain SA. The logos on page 76 indicate the partners who currently collect the Grain SA levy. DIRECT PAYMENTS Grain SA members can also make direct payments to Grain SA if they prefer to. With direct payments the producer can inform Grain SA of the number of tons delivered and Grain SA will then issue an invoice to the producer. Employment of levy The levies received by Grain SA from producers are used for specific purposes, focusing on the sustainability of producers. Graph 1 depicts the employment of the levy in the 2024/2025 season. Member statistics GRAIN SA Only grain producers can be members of Grain SA. The total active members who contributed to the Grain SA Levy Fund for the 2025 levy year were 4 954, with 2 716 of them being fully paid-up members, with a year-onyear decline of 11%.
