116 9.2 TRADEMARKS AND DEVICES 9.2.1 The Grain SA, Nampo and PGP trademarks and devices are continuously being updated at the trademarks registry within the applicable classes. 9.2.2 Action was taken via the CIPC tribunal to prevent the unlawful use of the name Nampo, by a third party. 9.2.3 All trademarks and devices are being updated from time to time, within the trademarks registry, on a continuous basis. 10. Other activities 10.1 INDUCTION SESSION 10.1.1 The induction work session for newly elected members of the Grain SA Board was completed on 18 March 2025. The programme included overviews of strategic focus areas for the various departments, as well as the related entities. 10.1.2 The induction session was attended by the Chairperson, Vice-chairpersons, CEO and ManCo. 10.2 NOMINATIONS TO SERVE IN INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL WORKING GROUPS OF GRAIN SA 10.2.1 The Nomination Committee is composed of the Chairperson, the two Vice-chairpersons, the CEO and the CoSec. The Nomination Committee annually meets in February, whereafter proposals are being prepared. Immediately after Congress adjourned, the Grain SA Board convene for a constituting meeting of the Board. At this meeting, the recommendations from the Nomination Committee serve for consideration and approval. 10.2.2 The CoSec team thereafter compile registers for internal working groups and inform external entities of Grain SA Board representation. 10.3 CALENDAR PLANNING 10.3.1 Calendar planning for the various boards, working groups and committees within the group, is annually prepared and availed internally as well as externally to stakeholders. 10.4 FUNDERS OF GRAIN SA PROJECTS 10.4.1 Grain SA annually submits projects to the Maize Trust, the Sorghum Trust, the Oil and Protein Seeds Development Trust, SACTA, the Sasol Trust and other funders. 10.4.2 Interim reports as well as annual reports are submitted to the respective administrators in terms of their policies and procedures. 10.4.3 Factual findings by the Ashton Group of auditors, support reporting to these funders. 11. Grain SA Congress 11.1 Congress 2025 was presented on 12 and 13 March 2025. A record number of 249 paid up delegates attended. 11.2 The Congress theme was ‘A producer’s journey from surviving to thriving’. 11.3 The keynote speaker was Paul Temple, vice-chairperson of the Global Farmer Network. Mr Temple guided Congress on change management, with lessons learned by farmers in the United Kingdom, following Brexit. 11.4 Panel discussions were presented with Prof Johan Willemse, independent agri economist, Dr Ferdi Meyer from BFAP, Paul Temple and Pieter de Jager (2023 Grain Producer of the Year). 11.5 The focus of the panel discussion was practical advice on adaption to new circumstances to optimise opportunities when markets turn positive again. 11.6 Various interactive question sessions were concluded, to gain valuable insights from delegates. 11.7 A highlight was the online participation of Minister of Agriculture, Mr John Steenhuisen, who also allowed questions from delegates.
