‘Communal farmers should be land beneficiaries’

Successful farmers on communal land should be specifically targeted as beneficiaries of the land reform programme. That’s the word from the National Emergent Red Meat Producer’s Organisation (NERPO), which urged the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform (DRDLR) to focus on these farmers. Speaking at Nerpo’s AGM, its managing director Aggrey Mahanjana said many livestock farmers have been farming on communal land for many years and therefore have a lot of experience and large herds or flocks of livestock.
